18th Century Bow Porcelain Octagonal Rim Soup Plate Printed in Purple. The center transfer-printed in deep purple with L'Amour (reversed), the rim with three vignettes of cottages under purple band to rim. 

Unmarked. 

Circa 1758-9

1 7/8" H. x 8 3/8" Diameter.

The source for this print has been located in A Book of Small Figures from the Originals of Cochin Junr, published and sold by F. Vivares. It consisted of seven pages, four of them engraved by W. Unlike Hancock's print, the Bow version of L'Amour does not include the maid standing behind the couple. Another was sold by Bonham's on September 8, 2010, lot 69 and an example sold from Norman Stretton Collection at Phillips in 2001, was offered again as part of Judy and Phelps Bell's Collection, Bonham's, London, November 20, 2019, lot 211.
