Description

18th Century Staffordshire Saltglazed Stoneware Sauceboat, ogee Rococo form, with ribbed strap handle. Sides slip cast with crisply moulded roses, rosebush branches issuing leaves, trailing roses all under scroll-moulded rims; scallop-shell lip. The handle terminate a crab stock twig.

Unmarked.

2 1/2” H. X 4 1/2” W. X 2 1/2” D.

Circa 1750 - 1760.


Condition: lower handle with sealed crack. Scattered dots of frit and glaze irregularities. NB: Spout tilts sinister.
