Description

19th Century Vieux Paris Painted Soup Tureen of oval form, the waisted ankle over spreading foot, with two faux bolted handles to the sides; the domed cover with melon form knop. The handles and knop resting in and on moulded leaves, picked out with gilding, and the ribbing to the melon also gilt. 

The sides and tops painted with pink roses, puple convolvulus and orange-yellow vining flowers, under royal blue bands.

Indistinct impressed mark to underside.

Circa 1865-1875.

Star crack to lower body, near roses. Minor gilding wear. No chips.
