Chinese Zhangzhou Porcelain Ewer Kendi Late Ming Dynasty, painted with calligraphic blue and white scrolling ribbons between bands. The Kendi is a vernacular form of ewer, usually a squat bottle with the neck under an exaggerated lip, with a short spout at the base of the neck, but lacking a handle.

9 1/4" H.

One side has a flaw to the glaze, either from contact with a firing medium such as salt, or from contact with another kendi placed next to this example.

From the private estate collection of an executive who lived abroad in Hong Kong, Singapore, and London for decades.
