Kenneth Snelson (1927-2016) Framed Iris Print Night Landing 1991-98 A/P

Kenneth Snelson who just passed away earlier this month, was a fascinating artist, who brought rigorous three-dimensional form and spatial relationships into his work. He placed elements precisely, and often created strict geometric forms of steel connected by taut steel cable. Whether designed as smaller-scale tabletop forms or installations such as are found at Storm King, DeCordova Park, etc., the key to its presence is the spatial relationships of the elements.

This is an Iris print that Snelson made himself, and was sold to my clients directly by Maxwell Davidson, Snelson's agent prior to his switch to Marlborough Galleries.

The print has space age elements, it's both trippy and yet also reminds me of the models one builds in chemistry and physics.
