French Porcelain Gille Painted Bisque Porcelain Figure of a Woman at Leisure, seated on a tree stump, book at her feet, her head held to the side
The bottom features a raised blue pad monogrammed “JG” for the French molder, Jean Gille.
The blue applied padmark to the base was used on decorative articles from 1840s to 1868.
7 1/2" H. x 4 1/2" W. x x 4 5/8" D.
Chip to the base; two fingers to the left hand with minor losses.
Jean Gille founded a porcelain factory at Rue de Paradis-Poissonniere in France around 1845
