Designed with a shell-form bowl, the deeply rayed bowl with scalloped edge. The gently-arced old English handle bright-cut engraved with floral design below beaded oval, with rayed ornament to top.

Marked for London, 1810.

Hester Bateman (1708-1794). After the death of her husband, John, in 1761, Hester Bateman inherited his silver business. Her early work was often over-marked by other makers. She and her husband started a multi-generational silver business that is still active today.
