French Crystal Gilt-Bronze-Mounted Square Inkwell, Circa 1900

The bronze dore ormolu mounts molded with vertical bands centering a corona of leaves from which drop two swagged garlands of leaves to the corners. The inkwell carved with multiple laurel leaves in patterns of swags and vines and scrolls. The bronze mounts numbered for placement.

Such fine crystal and bronze dore objets d'art graced the desks of fine and wealthy individuals starting about 1880 and up until the Art Deco style came into fashion in the 1920s. The crystal is of first quality, but doesn't appear to be signed.

7 1/4" H. including the knop, the inkwell 4" cubed.

In very good order, though the gilded surface of the bronze inkwell cover is worn. One tiny nick to bases, and a few scratches to base consistent with use.
