German-Czech Bohemian fine ruby-stained glass covered vase with optic foot, acid-etched and cut with continuous scenes of deer in woods. circa 1840-1880.     12 ½” H.    

Called dekkel pokal or covered vases on foot, this form was popular from the 1830s up to circa 1900 in Bohemia. This example, with its combination of colored glass, the beauty of the scene of stags in forests, is typical of finer production of this type of ware.
