SOLD Bill Sax (B. 1934, Newark NJ) Red Clay Teapot or Coffee Pot and Two Mugs, the teapot with waisted neck over the overiform body, with pinched spout and grooved handle, the flat cover with turned knob handle, the interior matte glazed. The mugs with flaring necks, low, wide, grooved handles. All three articles with organic glazes in mottled ochers and browns.
Sax's work resembles the German Roemertopf clay cookware.
The teapot signed, scratch-incised to underside.
10 3/8" H., the mugs 4 1/2" H.

The teapot with a firing crack from rim toward lower body, in manufacture. Shallow chip to cover. The mugs in excellent, undamaged condition, never used post manufacture.
Purchase includes three items: teapot/cover, two mugs. Four items will be in one box: teapot, cover, mug, mug.
