English Copeland Garrett Late Spode Pair of Green Ground Sauce Tureens and Covers, Circa 1825
The tureens and covers with scalloped borders with gilt bands, bracketing the bright green bands to the bodies, painted with named botanical specimens to the sides. The covers with bud-form knops, with notches for spoons.
The botanical specimens are Eriostemon Salicifolius and Lycopersicon Peruvianium.
Marked in green to undersides of bodies and covers Copeland Garrett Late Spode Feldspar China and pattern number 5181.
7 1/4" H., 8 1/4" W., handle to handle, 6 1/4" Deep.
Circa 1825-1830.
One with shallow chip near notch, the other with a chip issuing a crack to one side of the body, the cover broken into three pieces, reassembled.
